John Robert Powers compliment by Kristinnnn
When I went for the audition, I was excited but always skeptical as I had googled my heart out about their reputation the night before. What I can say truthfully is that every office is different. There are great offices with educated and supporting professionals and other places who are more shady. My family and I weren't surprised that I had been call backed as we figured this was about money, but they are a business. We never went in thinking I'd become a huge star and only knowing I had potential: I'm 5'8", thin, and on a weekly basis I'm told I should be a model. The most important reason we signed up for classes is that I had horrible social anxiety which kept me from going outside. I couldn't perform speeches infront of others and even stuttered when I would do them just for the teacher.

I registered for a year that let me take as many classes as I wanted in that time period for about six grand. Over that time, I've made new friends, developed confidence, discovered my acting talent, gone on many auditions, and found a mentor. Even if nothing comes out of it business-wise, I'm pleased as ever. John Robert Powers is not an agency, no matter what anyone says. They make this very clear and they don't have to promise any jobs at all. My location does give us notices on auditions in the area, and sends snapshots to agencies with our permission. The director is friendly and has been understanding in several occasions. There have been times when I've been late to auditions because of the distance and she's let me in, while others would not.

So far, I've had agencies and businesses interested in me for future work, but nothing has stemmed out of it yet. My school's director will be sending off my information and snapshots to numerous agencies locally and in major cities. An independent film would like to cast me, but is in hiatus. I was accepted to iPOP as the scout's number one choice, but couldn't go due to the staggering price.

All in all, John Robert Powers can be a great experience. Get to know the office, have realistic expectations, understand that it is a school, and don't pay the tuition if you're not comfortable with it.

My office location is Brookfield, WI. If you have any other questions, I'll try to answer them.

I agree, JRP has never stated to be an agency to us. They are a SCHOOL. Yes they hold audition for OTHER agencies but they are not one. They told us right from the beginning. They are not an agency. They told us exactly what they offer and we are free to choose classes or not. We encountered no pressure at all. My son love's his classes, loves his teachers and we pay for only for the classes we want him to take. Each branch is different I suppose. But JRP Boston has been honest and forthright with my family.

Definitely not. I am only offering my information about my experience with them. You can believe whatever you like, but I'll always defend the opportunities they've given me. Anyways, you obviously don't know John Robert Powers because you've labeled them as an agency, when they're not. How many times does the public need to be told this? People at the office have made this very easy to understand to students and their parents. I'm sure you had a different experience with John Robert Powers, but I'm just trying to acknowledge that they're not this big bad wolf. I'm very grateful to them for everything they've done for me.
