John Robert Powers complaint by Monielovv
I was approached by a representative for JRP and went to a introductory class. They seemed like a legit company and so I paid $2000 for my daugther to take classes and have auditions one a month.

About 3 weeks ago they called to inform me that they were "moving" to a new location and classes would be halted until Mid-May. I called yesterday 5/7/08 and talked to the old director. He informed me that the owner is nowhere to be found and filing bankruptcy and he owes money to his staff. My contract still has at least 6-7 months left to be fulfilled with no recourse yet.

I call the John Robert Powers corporation and they said that they apologized but I would have to sue the old owner to get my money back. I live in San Bruno and this JRP is in Redwood City. I am extremely angrey and frustrated at this company. I thought that I was being cautious in checking them out first and still got shafted.

We are part of the Marin JRP and are going through the same things as the original poster. We are not having auditons, classes are not what is promised and no one will answer our questions. I spoke to Steve Thompson and was told there was nothing to do but one another web site I found he has said this to many people who then sued and one. I'll be next.

Dear Reader,

my family ytells me i need a brake from the school work, in 2001. i am known as the geek. i tried JRP, and can only describe it in theese words:

Horendously Scamming to those Prized Consouming Posseions. :( let's just say, it's now 2008 and I have still, not gotton my money back. I am 28, and I have a lawyer. I thought my lawyer could beat that wicked old man, JRP. He remindes me of a sceemingful Donald Trump. Do not, I repeat DO NOT take JRP. In star wars code language, Fight the Force!!

Im curently taking classes out of the chicago office, and i want you all to know that they are not a scam. i have been to 3 auditions, one with abraums artist from L.A. when they told me that i made it into the school, they had a staff member sit down with us and discuss everything, and give us time to ask questions. we were not rushed at all and spent around an hour talking to her. They also have a payment plan unlike what you guys say. they did NOT ask for money up front. i have learned alot so far, and am getting a job with them doing promotions. dont believe what everyone says its a good SCHOOl.
